Sewing machines suitable for sewing workpieces for mass production are called industrial sewing machines, and industrial sewing machines are different from traditional sewing machines in many aspects. Industrial sewing machines are specially designed for long-term professional sewing, so they have excellent durability, parts and motors. While traditional sewing machines may include nylon or plastic gears, industrial sewing machine gears, connecting rods, housing and body are usually made of high-quality metal such as cast iron or aluminum.
Types of industrial sewing machines
There are four main types of industrial sewing machines. The difference between them is based on the design of the arm and the needle bar. The four types are:
Flat type: ^ Common type, these machines are similar to traditional sewing machines, where the arms and needles extend to the flat bottom of the machine. Workers usually use this machine to sew flat fabrics together.
Cylinder bed: These machines have narrow horizontal columns instead of flat bases. This allows the fabric to pass through and under the column. The diameter of the cylindrical bed varies from 5 cm to 16 cm. Workers use cylindrical bed machines to sew cylindrical parts such as cuffs, but it is also useful for large items such as saddles and shoes.
Rear-mounted machine tools: These machines are equipped with spools, feed hoppers and/or pipe benders on the columns, which are located on the flat bottom of the machine. The height of this column varies from 10 cm to 45 cm. Applications that are difficult to access the sewing area, such as attaching badges, boot making and glove making, all use machines behind the bed.
Unrealistic: Infrequently used groups, these machines require workers to feed materials along the axis of the horizontal column. This design limits the relationship between the length of the seam and the length of the post, but is very useful for applications such as cuffs and shoulder seams.
